Didn't like his Schubert but his Beethoven concertos are remarkable. Surprisingly good, maybe largely due to the use of a true chamber orchestra of which the relatively thin and fast sound suits the piece much better. It is also true that Beethoven's concertos are largely Mozartian - it can be heard after repetitive listening, and it also sounds better.

Robert Casadesus plays Mozart
Robert Casadesus, George Szell, Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Woodwind Quintet
Been some years listening to this collection. There is no more Mozart after Casadesus, except for a very few exceptions that I must give Rudolf Serkin the credit. This is beauty and sublimity incarnated.
The K.365 here is in particular unbelievable. All the wonders of existence.

The Old Country (Live at the Deer Head Inn)
Keith Jarrett Trio
I Fall in Love Too Easily. Sublime, sublime, sublime choral opening, and a stellar coda.

Pattern in the Shadows
Ring of Tamyrlin
Dungeon synth has improved a lot in the last 20 years, much better than, say, Summoning, etc.

Yann Robin: Vulcano
Ensemble Intercontemporain
A general tendency in contemporary music, initiated by Xenakis, that tries "describe" the "structure" of syrup, avoiding anything that is crystalline and is well-defined. The study of the emergence of crystalline structure and the underlying coherence of raw matter and energy.
Speaking straightforwardly, I don't sense much difference between this type of compositions and free jazz. Of course they're much more effective than free jazz since they're well-planned and are results of study, but the idea is the same.

Altar
Sunn O))), Boris
Such a wonderful album. Such a beautiful album that's beyond words. I don't know how one can not love this album.
There are tracks that are "doom", but also tracks like The Sinking Belle. Sunn O)))'s drone coupled with Boris' harsh distortion and cymbals, and various effects...

Bach: The 6 Partitas
Francesco Tristano Schlimme
Thought it would be real bad based on the vibe the name and his other albums emanated but I was wrong. This is really good.

Twilight
bôa
A good album overall especially due to their twisted and curled melodic line, popularized by lain which is at the same time fortunate and unfortunate since there are several songs better than Duvet in this album but they just cannot bullshit about how Duvet is the sole good track.

Salvatore Sciarrino: Orchestral Works
Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale Della RAI, Tito Ceccherini
Masterfully written. Still think his solo string works are the best though.

Double Pendulum
Nickolas Mohanna
Really like the works of this musician. The slowly morphing/evolving soundscape is at the same time full of tension and haunting.

Konkurs
Lifelover
Been a lifelong lifelover fan but never listened to this album. Didn't like the band that much when I was a 16yo boy, but now... I think I can understand more now, especially about those lowbrow things that I looked down upon.
Anyway, when I was 16yo I knew little about the emotional calamity that modern city has brought into human psyche since I wasn't a city boy at all, back then what impressed me was something more primordial. So it is understandable from a more banal point of view why I didn't like their music - there's a certain sort of emo-ness in their music, and it felt just too fashionable to me.
This album is rather emo. Dekadens is a better album overall, but here the bleak and depressive feeling of isolation is much stronger. Of course the album that exhibits this trait the most is Erotik.

Absolute masterpiece.

Palingenesis
Nebelung
Extremely repetitive and boring with some inappropriate use of synthetic sounds.
I know this is a neo-folk so I shouldn't be judging from outside the tradition but this is too much.

Gerd Kühr: Revue Instrumentale Et Électronique
Klangforum Wien, Emilio Pomàrico
In the beginning it was very lame but occasionally there are interesting passages. But overall it feels rather like a reminiscent of... maybe Stravinsky.

Schubert: Sonatas D. 959 & D. 960
Ronald Brautigam
The overall character is not wrong but there are tons of strange drags that sound awful especially in D.959. For me Schubert is all about steadiness, perseverance, and slowly emerging feelings, but about dragging and releasing.
And I don't understand this fortepiano hype.

Hans Gál: Music For Cello
Alfia Nakipbekova, Jakob Fichert
I like this composer. He's conservative. Some Bach, some Schubert, sine Brahms. Not really a personality but a pleasure to listen to.

Ulla, Ultrafog
Mostly Ulla's, with decorations of Ultrafog. Last album was way better, but Ultrafog's drone is genuinely a perfect match for Ulla's melting processed sound.
